I'm not a big fan of memory foam because I don't think a big flat block of it is especially soft and comfortable. I prefer an egg-crate mattress topper. So after searching and searching on Amazon, I found this topper that is made out of memory foam, but in an egg-crate design. And...it was 3" thick! There weren't any reviews to read so I was flying blind. Still, it sounded the best so I thought I'd give it a try, even though I was hesitant to pay $120 for a mattress topper with no reviews. Well, it turns out I'm happy I made the purchase. It is EXCELLENT. The 3" is REALLY nice and the memory foam doesn't bottom out like regular 1 or 1-1/2" egg crate toppers. I let it air out (I did NOT notice any smell) and "recover" for a day and half before putting it on the bed. We have a queen size bed and it fits perfectly and the very nice included cover holds it in place along with our fitted sheet so it doesn't slide. It is used on top of our Select Comfort mattress which is quite a few years old and needed a "face lift". This seems to do the trick. It is VERY COMFORTABLE! I highly recommend!
