Kai Pure Komachi 2 Stainless Steel 12 Piece Knife Set Review

I love these knives. I fell in love with the colors and did some research, read some reviews, watched videos online about them, and decided to buy them.

Thank goodness they have their colorful sleeves because these babies are ridiculously sharp. Which is, of course, why I bought them. Not being used to quality SHARP knives, I was cutting a bagel in half with the bread knife and ever so lightly bumped my thumb below the knuckle with the knife and had a pretty decent, even though tiny, cut. So be careful. One of the things I love so much about the sandwich knife and the break knife is that I'm no longer smashing my bread or bagels or loaves of bread. I'm actually slicing them. Cutting veggies with the others is MUCH easier, and faster. I'm no longer sawing. I'm actually slicing smoothly. What a nice little luxury over cheap knives. Someone who really knows how to cook and slice and dice would probably seriously love these.

I plan to hang mine on a magnetic rack, which means I'll have to keep the sleeves off. If I dare do such a thing...

Love the colors, love the performance! The price I got them for was well worth quality.
To care for them, I don't put them in the dishwasher, and I try not to let them air dry. I think I read they should be hand washed and hand dried, so I do, drying with a microfiber dish towel before putting them back in their sleeves.

Panasonic "Breakfast Collection" NC-ZF1V 8-Cup Stainless Steel Coffee Maker, Violet Review

Have been using this new coffee pot for 3 days and absolutely LOVE IT! I wanted a higher-quality more reliable coffee maker. Have been a Cuisinart user for the past 7 years. Liked the coffee a great deal but my Cuisinart finally died. After hours of reading all the Amazon reviews, it is amazing to me that in 2013, apparently we as a people have yet to build a decent coffee maker. This Panasonic comes really close....

It's no frills, a basic coffee maker. No timer, no clock, just very high quality engineering. There is a single button, the "ON" button. Use paper filters or the reusable metal mesh filter. Both work just fine. A mechanical slider (yeah!) for low, medium, or strong coffee. The coffee tastes fantastic! Very hot, and the stainless steel carafe keeps it piping hot for hours.

Only quibble, there is an annoying drip from the carafe. Can't really figure out the cause, but something is not tightly sealed. You pour your cup of coffee and there will be one or two drops dribbling from the spout, down the side of the carafe onto the counter. It's weird, and annoying, particularly at this price point.

Ultimately the engineering, ease of use, and terrific coffee are making me overlook the drip issue, but down the road I may investigate getting the carafe replaced. We will see how good the Panasonic customer service is.... Stay tuned...

UPDATE: 05 JULY: Contacted Panasonic Customer Service via Email as required through their site. 5 days later recieved a response with a telephone number to call to get my issue resolved. Called the number and Panasonic will NOT ship/exchange a new thermal carafe. The only option is to pack-up the entire coffeemaker in the origional packaging (long since discarded) and ship back to Panasonic where the unit will be "repaired" and returned. Of course I'm not doing that, I actually use my coffee pot every morning. I'm not shipping it off for a month or more just to get a leaky carafe replaced.

Bottom Line: Great engineering, great coffee, very poor customer service. Perhaps Panasonic has not fully realized the difference between selling TVs and stereos vice selling home appliances. A pitty really... Buyer beware....

I bought the left-hand santoku version for my wife and she couldn't be happier. Being left handed has always given her limited choice in scissors and other true left-handed tools so she's thrilled to have one made for her. The wooden handle has a D-shape, where the rounded part fits nicely into the back of your knuckles. It has a very nice and overall high quality feel to it, much better than a similar Henkle that she also used for many years before this.
