This unit is very similar to one I purchased through Columbia Music Club some twenty years ago, which I still have and is still in great condition. The biggest problem I have with cd/dvd storage units is the shelves on many models tend to be very thin so they tend to sag when you put the dvds on them, nevermind cds which would probably be impossible. There's no such problem with this unit with the shelves being 5/8" solid wood. Its probably more ideal for cds but I did manage to put three shelves in for my music dvds. It was assembled very easily (about an hour to put it together) and is very sturdy. I think anyone buying this unit would be perfectly happy with the product.

Kasumi Method of Knifemaking

Kasumi is a traditional Japanese style of knifemaking in which an extremely hard core of high-carbon steel is clad--that is, sheathed or covered--with an exterior jacket of another steel. The somewhat "softer" exterior cladding protects the inner cutting core. In Japanese, kasumi means "mist" and is so called because the exterior steel can have a lovely misty appearance when compared to the harder cutting core.

Kasumi construction provides an ultimate mix of properties: an extremely sharp edge and ease of sharpening. This clad construction is similar to how samurai swords are traditionally made.

Hammered Tsuchime Finish

In Japanese, Tsuchime (Tsoo-CHEE-may) simply means "hammered". It does two things: gives the knife a look that is reminiscent of the handcrafting techniques of ancient Japan; and creates tiny pockets of air that act as hollow-ground cavities to reduce drag and quickly release food from the blade. Shun's gorgeous new Premier line features a hand-hammered tsuchime blade finish.

Damascus (Suminigashi)

Many Shun cutlery lines are characterized by the beautiful Damascus patterning on the blades. In Japan, this is also known as suminigashi, or ink pattern, because of its resemblance to the undulating patterns made by ink in water. To create this style of blade, a cutting core of VG10 is clad on each side with 16 layers of Damascus steel, made up of SUS410 and SUS431 stainless steel. Then the blades are bead-blasted to reveal the elegant, waved pattern.

In addition to its beauty, the Damascus has two purposes. First, it protects and supports the extremely hard cutting core. Second, it helps the blade glide through food even more smoothly. You will find Damascus cladding on knives in our Classic, Ken Onion, and Premier series.

The Shun knives, in my opinion, are as good as they come. I have been cooking professionally for 19 years now as a certified licensed working chef. I teach culinary school and the most asked questions I get are about knives and which ones to buy. Through out most of my career I've used Messermeister knives which were great and held up for many years, but like most German knives, they don't hold their edge. The first time I held a Shun knife was at a supply store. Once I held it in my hand I had to have it. SEI White Fold-Out Organizer and Craft Desk Review

I bought this table/desk based on the reviews. It is about the right size to place my serger on. I can "open the wings" for more working space, and fold them in when I need to use the room as a TV room. I have several reasons for this two star review. The first is the poor factory assembly, which I had to re-assemble; the assembly instructions are confusing, and lastly the quality of the assembled furniture isn't so great. I have assembled a lot of this type of furniture previously, purchased here, at Ikea, and a number of other places. I'm not new at it.

PROS:
1. The pieces where nicely packed and protected with Styrofoam.
2. The pieces were nicely labeled with little stickers so you knew what parts where needed when.
3. I had all the parts that the package said I was supposed to have.

CONS:
1. Confusing assembly instructions. Examples, it isn't clear in Step 1 (the top) which direction piece C is facing, front or back. In Step 2 they show the big cam locks being at the bottom of pieces G and H, but they were the top and the dowel was the bottom.
2. Two of the pre-assembled drawer sliders (attached to the side pieces when it arrived from the factory) were reversed. So the holes to put the screws through were in the back of the craft desk, while the drawer holes were in front. There are a total of eight of these drawer sliders, six of them were mounted correctly. I could have drilled holes (another reviewer mentioned drilling holes), I chose to remove the sliders and install them correctly. It takes either a small phillips or a small square drive to remove the screws holding the sliders. Once I flipped them, I discovered I'd stripped out the screw heads. Luckily my husband has some small flat head screws that worked, so I was able to reattach the drawer sliders and finish this project.
3. The furniture is white plastic (melamie?) over composite wood product. There were several bumps, burrs and uneven places in the white plastic part. Since none of them were on the top pieces or the drawer fronts, I didn't fret over it.

It is now assembled, and I'll use it. It is a fine size for my purposes.
