I haven't had much experience in purchasing blankets and absolutely none in alpaca. But I figured my first legitimate purchase should be of a blanket made out of spectacular material.

It's only been a week but I've grown accustomed to the smoother-than-silk feel of the blanket and find it miserable to use anything else. It is very light yet does a good enough job at keeping me warm. I expect it to perform just as well when the winter rolls in here in the Midwest.

It is very thin (less than .5 cm thick) and very light so it may be a delicate blanket. Camping or any other type of roughnecking may lead it to rip easily but I don't plan on using it for anything other than curling up and reading a book on the sofa so it's not an issue for me.

As for the aesthetics, I was worried about purchasing this color because the picture did not appeal very much to me. I'm not good at describing colors but in actuality mine is a forest green and I find it very pleasant. It's probably a shade lighter than the picture they provided.

Along with the blanket they included a paper describing how to care for the blanket. They remark that the blanket will have many loose fibers that will shed. This is true. The instant I opened my package I fluffed it onto my bed and when I re-folded it there was tons of green-lint left behind. After washing it, the shedding problem is minimized but fluffs still fall off whenever I pick the blanket up. I'm afraid to wash it vigorously because of the delicacy problem mentioned above but either way, I can't imagine there being any loose fibers falling off after a few months of use.

The edges of the blanket are merely stitched with white thread. It doesn't bother me but I read that another customer thought it made the blanket look cheap. I suppose the edges are unspectacular but the blanket itself looks humble. To me, the softness and warmth surpass how it looks. It's only been a week or two and I haven't had a real need to use it but already I can say that I'm happy with this purchase.

Also, I'm pretty sure shipping took 1.5 weeks to get to Michigan in case you were planning on getting a gift with a deadline. They say it can be much longer if Customs checks it so don't take my time frame as law.
