Sure Fit Stretch Stripe 2-Piece Sofa Slipcover, Sage Review

I have a nice, standard-sized, black Ashley sofa still in great condition, but wanted a color change. I looked into purchasing a new sofa, but to save on money I decided to purchase a slipcover instead. I saw the reviews on this product and watched videos on the manufacturers website, and thought that this would be a great alternative. NOT a good idea....

1) The color is not as shown. I fell in love with the sage green color pictured, but once seeing the slipcover I noticed it was significantly darker than what is online.

2) Actually putting the slipcover on my sofa was not as simple as the video / instructions make it seem. The video shows an average women easily slipping the slipcover onto her furniture, and having no issues with stretching and readjusting it on her own. Not the case at all. I had to ask my mother for help, and even then it was not an easy task.

3) The fit was all wrong. The instructions state that the fabric snaps back into place once stretched over your furniture. Again that was not the case. On some parts it was so obviously loose, and on other parts it didn't even stay put (kept riding up).

My sofa was well within the requirements according to the products fit guide, but no matter how hard I tried, it would not fit properly. I am completely dissatisfied with this purchase and am going to return it.

Types of Blades

The Right Blade for Every Purpose

The edge is the business end of a knife. It is skillfully honed by hand and incredibly sharp. For different cutting tasks different blade shapes and edges are recommended.

The Differences:

Straight-edge blade: The straight edge allows a smooth and clean cut. When carving no fibres are torn out of the meat. This edge can be used for firm and soft food like meat, vegetables and fruit.

Serrated-edge blade: The wavy or serrated edge allows an easy cut through crusty food like a traditional roast and crispy bread.

Wusthof Classic 8-Inch Hollow-Ground Cook's Knife Review

If you're looking for quality cutlery then look no further than Wusthof. This knife is as good as it gets and well worth the cost. I initially thought the 8" model might be more than I need for everyday use, but after using it for a while now, I have to say that I'm so glad I didn't go smaller. This knife is substantial in all respects. The look and feel of it is superb. There are certainly other choices for a lot less money if you're shopping for cutlery, but I assure you you will not be sorry if you make the proper investment up front with this knife. I second another reviewer here and caution one to be very careful when using, as the blade is indeed sharp and has remained so since I first began working with it. Because of that, it is an absolute joy to use. Just be sure to wash it, dry it, and put it back in its block as soon as you're done with it. This knife is serious cutlery. You'll be in love with it the first time you slice into a tomato and find you can cut it as thin as you desire.

KitchenAid Gourmet Aluminum Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set, Red Review

In recent years, I've upgraded my cheap old pots and pans to really good KitchenAid cookware. I started by buying the KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials Hard Anodized Nonstick 12-Piece Cookware Set about two years ago and was pretty happy with them, although they weren't perfect.

I was impressed enough with that older set that I didn't even think twice when offered the KitchenAid Gourmet Porcelain Enamel Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set in red for review - I simply accepted the offer. I was interested to see if they improved on my old set and honestly, I was happy to have another set of really good cookware.

This new set met almost all of my expectations. Unfortunately, KitchenAid has not improved their technology in a way that allows them to completely satisfy me. Like my old set, these new pots and pans can't be put in the dishwasher without voiding the warranty. This is the only reason I am not giving them five stars. If they could be put in the dishwasher, they'd be perfect.

That said, they wash really easily by hand and this method is just fine most of the time. I simply think that the dishwasher does the best job in sterilizing dishes and prefer it whenever possible. For those who usually wash pots and pans by hand anyway, this is likely not an issue at all.

With the bad news out of the way, I'll move on to the positive points, which are numerous. Like my other KitchenAid cookware, this set cooks really well. Using my electric stove, the heat is distributed very well and everything I've tried cooks evenly. The glass lids are fantastic, allowing you to check the progress of your dish without the need to remove the lid and allow heat to escape.

Both the lids and the pans have kind of a rubbery-type grip that stays cool so you can touch them while cooking with bare hands.

The 10-piece set offers a good variety of sizes that come in handy no matter what you need to cook. My only wish here is that it had an 8-quart stockpot instead of a 6-quart stockpot. Of course, the 6-quart stockpot is useful for a lot of things too, but I like to freeze homemade chili, spaghetti sauce, chicken stock and more, so a larger pot is extremely useful when cooking for such a purpose.

Now for the purely superficial pro: these pots and pans are just beautiful. I have always admired cookware with enamel coating outside and I am particularly drawn to red for this. My one fear was that the enamel might be easy to scratch and not last but after using this set, I think the KitchenAid set will stay just as pretty as it did when I took it out of the box for a good long time.
